Description

Rubber Band Powered Free Flight WWII Vintage Tiger Moth Laser-Cut Balsa Wood Model Kit

Redwing RC is proud to carry another superb Laser Cut Balsa Kit for the traditional R/C hobbyist and builder who enjoys constructing models from kit form. This kit is a Rubber Band Powered Free Flight replica model of a DH.82A Tiger Moth with a 600mm (24") wingspan.  This replica model features sharp accurate laser cut parts and includes all the materials to complete the suggested authentic scheme of a yellow Royal Australian Air Force Tiger Moth. This is a simple but striking scheme, but you can decide to do your own favorite or more complicated scheme if you wish. The power system is a simple rubber band like the old days before gas/electric engine models!

Construction of the model uses the traditional method of "stick and tissue", that consists of a built up balsa wood skeleton (framework), covered with a tissue skin. The balsa frameworks are built over a plan that is printed at the exact scale of the model, which is in essence a real 1:1 engineering drawing. Power is provided by rubber band motor that is wound up before flight. Free flight means just that - once the model is launched, it is on its own. It must follow a predetermined flight path established when the model is initially adjusted for flight or "trimmed". This type of traditional building technique and flying requires a degree of patience and skill, but is extremely rewarding.

Caution: This is not a model kit for beginners and requires the building skills of a intermediate/advanced model builder. If you are new to kit building, recommend trying our more basic Free Flight Rubber Band Powered 1920s Vintage Glider Replica.
