The Blue Bird BMS-M15V servo is a ground-breaking new servo from Bluebird, perfect for the F5J market. It uses a magnetic contactless position sensor which will never wear out and thus removes the major failure mode of my most RC servos. The case of the -V version incorporates two horizontal mounting lugs for secure mounting in wings and tail services.

Despite being only 10 mm thick the M15V’s torque and speed are both very high making it suitable for all control surfaces on fast gliders and jets. The voltage range goes from 4.5V up to 8.5V, making it perfect for use from electronic speed controls (ESC), 4.8V NiMH or 2S Lipo batteries. The high-quality metal gears are supported on two ball bearings and the servo is driven by a high-quality coreless DC motor. The black case is anodised aircraft grade aluminium alloy, not plastic.

The large output spline is identical to Futaba 25 tooth splines, so replacement output arms are readily available.

Understanding the receiver

 

Setup Instruction

Binding

  1. Plug bind plug to the receiver.
  2. Provide power to the unit. LED flashes quickly.
  3. Enable bind mode in transmitter and ensure distance separation of 2 meters from receiver. Solid LED light means binding is completed.
  4. 4) Remove bind plug.

Failsafe Enable (Video showing 10-Channel receiver)

  1. Plug bind plug to the receiver.
  2. Provide power to the unit.
  3. Plug the side pushbutton for memorize current position in Failsafe mode.
  4. Green light will turn on at the bottom of the receiver to indicate Failsafe is successfully enabled.
  5. Remove bind plug

Failsafe Disable 

  1. Rebind the receiver without pressing the side pushbutton will disable the Failsafe mode.
  2. Green light off indicates Failsafe disabled.
